The emoji overlords at the Unicode Consortium continue their commitment to realizing a beautiful dream of racial harmony through multicultural emoji. Today, Apple released a beta OS X update to developers, which included a whole new multicultural universe. Big day! In about a month, we will be able to text with all the colors of the rainbow.

Here’s your first glimpse of how it works: By holding down any of the human emoji (i.e., noses, thumbs-up, princess, postman), various skin color options will appear. Finally, all the world’s races are represented, be you black, white, Asian, Hispanic, Indian, or … what’s that school-bus-yellow one? Lego? Maybe the Unicode Consortium can tweak those flesh tones before the March release.
