If only there were a crystal ball that would clearly answer the question so many of us have: “Will I regret my currently awesome tattoo later in life?” Thankfully, the team at FiveThirtyEight crunched some numbers — i.e., the statistics on tattoo demographic, tattoo removal surgery, etc. — to give us a look into the future. It takes some fairly circuitous reasoning, but in the end, the data suggests that people, especially the youngs, really love their tattoos. Finally, justification for getting “YOLO FOMO” tattooed across your knuckles like you’ve always dreamed.
