Uh-oh, the two major Al(i)x’s of the podcasting world seem more “unwell” than usual. Per Variety, Alix Earle’s Hot Mess podcast has been dropped from the Unwell Network, Alex Cooper’s podcasting empire for influencers and yappers. Though Cooper, of Call Her Daddy fame, hasn’t confirmed the news, the outlet reports that Unwell has renounced all rights to Hot Mess so Earle can take her content elsewhere. SiriusXM will also reportedly stop selling ads for the show. The Cut has reached out for comment, and will update this post if we hear back.
Cooper and Earle have been working together since September 2023, when Cooper launched the Unwell Network with Earle as her first hire. But over the last few months, rumors of a rift between the two have been brewing. The evidence is thin: During Super Bowl weekend, fans pointed out that Earle skipped an Unwell Super Bowl party, instead galavanting around New Orleans all weekend with her friends and boyfriend, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Braxton Berrios. Fans have also speculated that Cooper might want to distance herself from Earle after screenshots posted to Reddit last year showed Earle allegedly using racial slurs in 2014. (Earle has since apologized.)
Regardless of what went down, you know who’s going to be just fine? 30-year-old multimillionaire Alex Cooper. She has her hands full, anyway: She’s been busy promoting her electrolyte beverages — “best enjoyed unwell” — all over the country. Priorities, people.
