Halloween can be a stressful time for people who are prone to indecision, leaving many of us in piecemeal cowgirl costumes cobbled together from leftover items from our closets. But there are the rare few who know exactly what they want to be and therefore pull their costumes off with aplomb. Enter Viola Davis’s 4-year-old daughter, Genesis. Did she feel like dressing as Elsa from Frozen? Nah. A pirate? No thanks. Genesis wanted to be something much cooler: her mom on the night she won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama.
Davis posted the photo of her little lady on Instagram Halloween night with the caption, “So…..the Elsa costume? Didn’t work for her. The Pirate? A no go. So she finally said, ‘I just want to be YOU mommy’! So… uhh…..this is ME.” From the red lips to the white dress to that inspirational Emmy acceptance glow, Genesis puts everyone else’s weak Halloween costumes to shame. Maybe next year we all should be Genesis, too.
