Ex–Project Runway contestant Daniel Vosovic enjoyed good reviews for his first solo Fashion Week show in New York in February. He hopes that even as a small label he’ll be able to dress celebrities for red-carpet appearances. “I’m a little obsessed with Zoe Saldana, but that’s too easy. You could throw combat boots and a paper bag [on her], and I guarantee she’d rock the shit out of it,” he told us last night at the premiere of Breaking Upwards. “But I did approach Gaby Sidibe’s stylist, and we are going to hopefully be working in the future on something.”
He continued: “To me, that would be a standout and accomplishment, to take something that’s not exactly a sample size and make it not just work, but make it a fashion moment. Because I think red-carpet dressing is so mundane and now having had my own collection, I’m competing with corporations and it sucks. And it’s like, ‘No, I want you because I like you and respect your work to wear my clothes, not because you gave me $10,000 to do so.’”
