Yves St. Laurent creative director Stefano Pilati preceded his small spring 2010 men’s show with a short film in Paris yesterday. He’s shown menswear in this format for seasons now. While many fashion-film presentations like this contain merely artsy montages seemingly designed more to freak out audiences than show clothes, this one comes with narrative. Better yet, the star of this film is Jules, the adorable 11-year-old son of its director and writer Samuel Benchetrit. He finds a key to a hotel room, intrudes, tries on clothes, reads a love letter, watches porn, writes on the mirror in ketchup, all with the most fabulous man bag and blazer any schoolboy has ever known.
