As if the Sex and the City movie anticipation weren’t enough, now we can, um, look forward to wearing outfits designed by Patricia Field herself. The SATC stylist will design a capsule collection for British retailer Marks and Spencer, debuting in October. (The line will also be sold online and in select international markets.) Many outfits in the Sex and the City movie make it look like Field is playing Barbie with the dolls she never had as a child, but we do hope her line makes it across the pond. Marks and Spencer should rein her in a little, and she could give them just the right boost of crazy they need to pique interest from an edgier crowd. Field told British Vogue, “I have conceptualised the line as ‘Destination Style New York’ and it consists of iconic womenswear including matching accessories. I like to see it as expression of my philosophy of ‘the democratisation of luxury.’” We hope that means she’s got lots of costume jewelry in store (she once told us she prefers it to the real thing) rather than a bunch of faux leopard fur.
