Earlier this week, amid the ongoing wildfires devastating Los Angeles, Lil’ Kim joined the hordes of celebrities offering their well wishes to the communities impacted. “Been sending strong prayers up for LA and everyone affected by the fires,” she wrote on X on Tuesday. “This is heartbreaking.” That would’ve been a perfectly fine condolence, but the 50-year-old then added: “I pray to Jesus that God make it monsoon in LA.” Yes, a monsoon.

Commenters quickly educated Lil’ Kim on why this statement might not land well with people who are already dealing with the ruin caused by a natural disaster. According to the National Weather Service, monsoons can also be very destructive, causing severe thunderstorms, flash floods, and excessive thunderstorms that can destroy homes and damage infrastructure. Still, Lil’ Kim is undeterred.

“What’s happening is devastating and what LA really needs right now is rain — so what’s the issue? Doesn’t everyone understand that a monsoon is heavy rain?,” she wrote on X on Thursday. “I’m so happy to see that everyone is staying so positive during such a tragic situation. Let’s keep praying and supporting everyone that has been affected by this.”

To further defend her take, Lil’ Kim then posted the definition of a “monsoon” — “a seasonal shift in wind direction that can cause extreme wet or dry weather,” according to the rapper’s Google search — “for anyone that’s confused.” Hmmm, I think the only person that is confused right now is Lil’ Kim. Here’s hoping she returns to posting her usual fare (photos in catsuits) soon.
