As Kamala Harris transitions into life after the vice-presidency, she seems to have more free time on her hands. According to “Page Six,” the former vice-president and Democratic nominee for president spent the weekend bopping around New York with her husband, Doug Emhoff. Harris shook hands with Tony winners, gave a motivational speech, and repeatedly flashed her signature smile. What a treat for us.
On Saturday, Harris swung by A Wonderful World: the Louis Armstrong Musical, where she gave an impromptu speech to cast members and crew backstage. “In times when we’re dealing with so much in the world, we have to find those moments that are about joy,” she told them. Later that evening, she and Doug were seen celebrating SNL’s 50th anniversary at the Polo Bar while six Secret Service agents lingered nearby, per “Page Six.” Also nearby: Jerry Seinfeld, Larry David, SNL groupie Jon Hamm, and, for some reason, Peyton Manning.
Finally, the couple rounded out their Big Apple weekend with a trip to the Majestic Theatre to see Gypsy. (Back-to-back musicals are not for the faint of heart.) Upon arrival, the audience erupted into a standing ovation, chanting “Ka-ma-la” until the show’s overture began, per Broadway World. Later, Harris shook hands with six-time Tony winner Audra McDonald, and met/petted the show’s canine actors, Indy and Tana June.
Shortly after her flurry of weekend outings, Harris officially re-signed with CAA, the agency that represented her prior to her vice-presidency. It seems she’s intent on staying booked and busy. Next up in her packed itinerary? She’ll make her first post-veep TV appearance at the NAACP Image Awards on Saturday night to accept the Chairman’s Award.
