As far as football player–celebrity relationships go, Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen are very low-key about their whole situation. The couple got engaged at the end of last year but didn’t make their red-carpet debut until last night, when they appeared together at the NFL Honors. This actually marks the first time they’ve attended a public event together at all in the almost two years they’ve been dating.
After taking photos together, the two headed inside, where Allen was up for this season’s Most Valuable Player (presented by Invisalign, naturally) alongside Lamar Jackson, Saquon Barkley, Joe Burrow, and Jared Goff. The Bills quarterback took home the award and kissed his fiancée before heading to the stage.
Onstage, he thanked God, the Bills organization, and his family before turning his attention to Steinfeld, who was looking up at him with tears in her eyes. “Last but not least, to my fiancée, Hailee,” he said. “You’ve been my rock and my best friend. I would not be standing on this stage if it weren’t for you.” I’m usually reticent to align with stan pages, but I have to say that “best of hailee steinfeld” is onto something here:
It was a night for lovers at the NFL Honors, with Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson also turning the event into date night. While they’re less likely to win Sweetest NFL Couple, you have to respect their commitment to living out loud even though it seems like everyone else’s reaction to them is, “Oh … what?”
