If you’ve emptied your bank account for Renaissance World Tour tickets this year, I’m sorry, because Beyoncé is coming for your wallet yet again. This time, we won’t be paying to see her perform — instead, we’ll be paying to have her products sitting on our bathroom shelves.
Today, on Instagram, she posted a photo of herself in glam and a younger photo of herself at the hair salon. My eyes immediately went to the sampling bottles in the photo of her in her glam room. The labels are too faint to read, but they’re definitely sample bottles of something. Does this mean she’s launching a hair-care line? Maybe. But she keeps us on our toes, so knowing her, it could be a wig line. Honestly, I’m just glad it’s not skin care, because we were getting tired of celebrity skin care. (But it’s Beyoncé, so we’re throwing our coins regardless.)
How do we know she’s definitely working on something? Her Instagram included a letter that was an ode to growing up in her mom’s hair salon in the ’90s. “I saw firsthand how the ways we nurture and celebrate our hair can directly impact our souls … Having learned so much on my own hair journey, I’ve always dreamed of carrying on her legacy. I can’t wait for you to experience what I’ve been creating,” she said.
The Beyhive is already speculating on what it is that she’s working on. “Beyoncé hair care?!” multiple comments read. Activist Brittany Packnett Cunningham commented, “You gon finally give us our edges back?!?” She’s wearing curly hair in the photo with the samples, so my guess is that it’ll be hair care for natural hair. Suddenly I want to let go of my perm that I just put back in my head. Will the products be honey infused in honor of the Hive? (Honey adds luster to dry hair, by the way.) When these products hit shelves, expect me to be sitting in front of the mirror with a fan blowing in my face, just like Beyoncé when she’s onstage.
