Thanks to Sheryl Lee Ralph, Zendaya, and Ayo Edebiri, the Emmys red carpet this year served up some serious fashion. There were also trends galore! For example, there was a white-suit moment courtesy of Nicholas Braun, Andrew Garfield, and Oprah. There was the poofy princess theme, as seen on Kaley Cuoco and Hannah Waddingham (the former of which sported a high-low skirt — vintage!). And some looks ascended the limitations of red-carpet trendiness and deserve their own stand-alone recognition. We’ve given them the spotlight they warrant below. (If you want to see all the looks, right this way.)
Best Dressed
Euphoria’s Zendaya, serving Hollywood glamour in a black strapless Valentino gown and satin headband; Yellowjackets’ Jasmin Savoy Brown in Christopher Kane; and The Bear’s Edebiri in Giambattista Valli haute couture. We couldn’t pick just one — they all looked too good — so this is a title these queens will have to share.

Best-Dressed Runner-up
Lily James in Versace. It’s drapey, it’s sparkly, it’s open-back — everything a red-carpet look should be.
Most Shimmery
Reese Witherspoon. Enough said.
Most Regal
Sandra Oh! She’s a star through and through, showing up in royal purple in a very Prince-esque outfit.
Most Unfinished
Elle Fanning’s dress DAZZLED, but her hair just wasn’t giving what it needed to give!
Most Fashion Forward
Braun (in Dior) and Garfield both wearing white after Labor Day? Brave!

Most Elegant
Issa Rae in a black-and-white look. The blunt bob? The skin? The silhouette? She came ready to serve.
Most Cupcake-esque
Waddingham in Dolce & Gabbana. And, no, she didn’t say it was vintage … yikes!
Most C-3PO
We loved Euphoria’s Colman Domingo’s look, but before you get mad, let’s not lie to ourselves and pretend it’s not even a little reminiscent of that one robot from Star Wars. Still, we stan Rue’s sponsor.
Most Lovely
Just because she’s great and she said she feels good in this look: Melanie Lynskey in Christian Siriano. She told Laverne Cox on the red carpet, “I feel like a little bit of a bad bitch, honestly.” You are a bad bitch, Melanie.
Most Detail Oriented
I find the tiny stitching on Nicholas Hoult’s sleeve both threatening and endearing. The label reads, “If you can read this I must love you to let you get this close.” We love boundaries.
Most Tastefully Aquatic
Amanda Seyfried in Armani. She said she feels like a mermaid, and she looks like one!
