Big day: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have announced the birth of their second child, a baby girl and a Gemini, reportedly born on Friday morning at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The couple released a statement on Sunday, in which they also shared the newborn’s name, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. Apologies to the tabloids that had their money on the names Harriet and Amy, based solely on offhand comments the couple has made in the past! But please allow the Sussexes to explain Lili Diana’s origins, although I bet you have already clocked at least one of the references:

Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty the Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, the Princess of Wales.

Meghan and Harry first shared the news that baby Archie, who is realistically a toddler now, would soon become a “big brother” in February. They did not indicate a due date at the time, but about a month later, during their bombshell interview with Oprah, confirmed that the baby would be a girl. According to a statement from the palace, her great-grandma — also speaking for Prince Charles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton — has “been informed” and is “delighted.”

In any case, I am sure you are wondering how big Lili is, and fortunately, Deadline has answers: 7 lbs 11 oz. The couple has not released any photos yet, but would like to “thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special time as a family.”
