See the Best Street Style From Milan Fashion Week
We’ve talked a fair bit about status symbols this month: Balenciaga sneakers, Matrix sunglasses, and clear umbrellas, for instance. But at Milan Fashion Week, one status symbol reigned supreme: pixelated knit sweaters by Marco de Vincenzo, featuring famous paintings such as Antonello da Messina’s Portrait of a Man. The 15th-century artist never dreamed of appearing in a street-style slideshow, probably, but here we are.
Other status symbols? Wearing head-to-toe white without spilling a tiny Milanese espresso all over yourself. Everyone moonlighting as Italians for the week wore bright stripes, bold florals, and abstract prints (see Moschino’s scribbled designs for further proof). People also debunked the fashion “rule” that two people cannot show up to an event wearing the same outfit. If your crew is rolling up to the Dolce & Gabbana show, wear coordinating D&G. If you’re wearing a pink suit, find other pink suits for your friends. If you’re wearing a baby-pink suede trench coat, get your BFF a baby-blue suede trench coat.
