Jeff Koons — he of the balloon dog and the topiary puppy — is going to be redecorating H&M. On July 17, the artist will take over the retailer’s Fifth Avenue flagship and turn it into a mini Koons exhibit in advance of his retrospective at the Whitney. H&M will also be selling a special-edition balloon-dog bag (pictured above) at its stores in New York, L.A., and Dallas, as well as online. Said the artist in a press release, “The partnership with H&M was really exciting for me and the chance to showcase one of my most popular works to a new generation of people was inspiring.” Nothing like some contemporary art to make a shopping excursion feel highbrow.
