Joe Zee’s departure for Yahoo left big shoes to fill, and today, it was announced that Alex Gonzalez, the creative director of Marie Claire and Town & Country, will replace him as creative director at Elle. Gonzalez will also continue to fulfill his duties at Town & Country, reporting to EIC Jay Fielden. Said Hearst Magazine president David Carey in a statement, “Alex has the skill and imagination to communicate the unique essence of a brand through design. His work on Marie Claire strengthened this important franchise, and I look forward to him now enriching ELLE’s global spirit and strong fashion point-of-view, while continuing to oversee the look and feel of Town & Country.” Sounds like he has his work cut out for him.
