Posting a personal snapshot of you and your ex-girlfriend canoodling, as Justin Bieber has done, is a pretty pitiful use of Instagram. Then there’s posting a collage of wire photos of your ex-girlfriend at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party — decidedly without you — with the caption “most elegant princess in the world,” which is what Bieber did today. (Followed by a sad selfie about God’s love.) It is believed to be the saddest use of the social network for a romantic relationship to date, and a sadder celebrity win-her-back strategy than communicating through paparazzi and concert dedications (probably because of the poor photo-resolution). The appropriate response is between three and ten weeping emoji.
