New York Comic Con starts today, which means the city will be flooded with some of the most expensive, elaborate, and bizarre costumes we’ve seen since Fashion Week. While the worlds of fashion and Comic Con don’t often collide, we firmly believe that there is a crossover woman who can speak Klingon, yet doesn’t want a Comic Con costume cobbled together from tinfoil and vacuum-cleaner parts. Click through our slideshow for the Valentinos, Westwoods, and Gallianos that were made for aliens, monsters, and comic-book-superhero costumes.

Mother of Dragons in Dolce & Gabbana A red fringe-y Dolce & Gabbana dress invokes the fire of Khalessi's three dragons. Could also somehow work for a Wonder Woman costume if you were willing to play fast and loose with the scissors (and, uh, waste a lot of money).

Future intergalatic space dweller by Alexander McQueen Probably the most versitile of generic future space dwellers. Could work as a High School cheerleader from the year 3048 or, with chains, a modernized version of Princess Leia's iconic Star Wars scene. Just enlist a friend as Jabba the Hutt.
