The theme for last night’s amfAR gala at the Plaza Hotel was “military,” complete with a runway show full of camo fabrics and double-breasted jackets. How does attendee Liza Minnelli feel about men in uniform? “Oh, they’re so attractive!” The Cut chatted with guests about their most militant personal habits, as well as the new child models bill and summer song predictions. Lindsey Wixson What do you think of the new bill that applies child labor laws to underage models?
I think it’s a good idea. I think it’s a great idea, because a lot of girls, they’ll drop out of high school just to do fashion shows, and I don’t think it’s right. I mean, if they can somehow get their diploma earlier, I completely support that, and I completely support independent women who are strong and get through school as quick as you can and learn as much as you can.

Blisters from shoes you didn’t break in yet, because your skin is so fragile from the winter. That’s a very annoying summer problem.
The theme for the fashion show tonight is "military." What are you militant about, personally?
I was militant when I was 15. I was dating a guy who went to this young military thing and then they had this Christmas ball and I bought this beautiful, stunning velvet dress and it was in camo. That was my military phase.
Do you still have it?
Yes. It’s a stunning dress. It’s super-elegant. I was probably looking way older than I was when I was 15 wearing that, but it was a really cool dress — tight, and like had a little slit and all the guys in this huge ball, they were like: Whoa. Icona Pop’s “I Love It.” Big fan of that. But I’ve loved that one for a while. For the summer, I would say that’s up there still. It’s my jam.
What do you think makes a great summer anthem?
Something you can sing along to, and something that makes you feel good. Because summer is about being carefree, you don’t want something too serious.

Oh, man. There are a lot of really great songs this summer. I’m actually working on a remix album, so that will be out in the fall — I’m working on it all summer long, so it’ll be exciting.
