Kate Young, who’s best known for styling celebrities like Michelle Williams and Natalie Portman for red carpets, is designing a capsule collection for Target, available April 14. This isn’t Young’s first time working with Target: In addition to her Hollywood styling gigs, she’s a longtime consultant for the retailer as well as a variety of brands ranging from Jason Wu and Derek Lam to Ann Taylor and Armani Exchange. This isn’t her maiden voyage in design collaboration, either — she did a capsule collection with knitwear label Cardigan two years ago, and last year she ventured into the mass market with a range for Macy’s contemporary label, INC.
According to a press release from Target, Young’s collection will focus on party dresses — a fitting theme, given her red-carpet expertise. It will also include some more casual separates as well as shoes and accessories, with prices ranging from $29.99 to $89.99 for apparel and $14.99 to $49.99 for jewelry, handbags, and shoes.
Young is often commended for her striking personal style; with her bleach-blonde hair and penchant for bold but simple touches like tuxedo detailing, black-and-white contrasts, and the occasional bow, she’s a favorite among street-style photographers. And since she’s already worked with Target for years, she clearly knows what she’s doing. This collaboration should be one of Target’s more successful ones.
