At last night’s Out 100 party at Skylight Studio, Miss Piggy held court on the red carpet, posing for photos with Out editor Aaron Hicklin and other partygoers. Nearby, Andrej Pejic — one of the latest issue’s cover models — looked resplendent in a Jean Paul Gaultier pantsuit and Louboutin shoes. So, what did he say to the Queen when he met her last month? “I definitely was a little bit nervous, and I didn’t want to fuck up the ceremonial rules, but she said — you know, she usually asks people what do you do? And I said, ‘Well, I sell my body and my face, but I get to keep my clothes on. Usually.’” How did she react? “I don’t know; she was very proper about everything, so whether she got it or not, I’m not sure.”

You know, when I saw it, it was so big – I’m not scared of snakes, but it was so big that I was, like, “Oh my god, that’s intense.” But once they laid it on me, it was soft and warm.

I’ve been trying to get Jane Lynch to do the cover of the Out 100 for a few years. She was in the Out 100 before Glee was a success; I admire her, and I wish she would be in the portfolio. Do you know why they won't? I think it’s scheduling problems; both [Lynch and Ellen] are incredibly busy people. To be frank, the hardest people to get are actors who are out, (A) because of scheduling, but (B) because you can be out, but no one wants to be so out that it jeopardizes their career. Let me rewind — Ellen and Jane Lynch are not those people at all; I’m talking of other people.

[Laughs] Look, it can only help my career to say that I’m gay, so, you know, I’ll leave it ambiguous. Don’t tell my boyfriend. Whatever will sell tickets. And in fact, my 91-year-old alcoholic mother, Maggie, who the gays love, actually marched in a pro-gay-marriage rally, and she had the best sign. It said, “Gay marriage: I’ll drink to that.” So you’ve got a 91-year-old activist in my mother as well as in me. You’re doing New Year’s Eve with Anderson Cooper again this year? Yes, I’m going to do New Year’s Eve again, live on CNN with Anderson Cooper. So of course, my goal is to get him fired by midnight. Let’s see how he holds up this year, shall we? He already called me to say, “I’ve officially started sweating.”

Drew Droege What did you wear in your Out photo shoot? I was dressed like Chloë Sevigny, which is an alter-ego that I do on the Internet. So I had to pick out a gown, and I had to shave my chest for the first time ever. Has Chloë Sevigny seen your act? She has. She’s super cool. I had no idea that my act would ever get so far so that she'd see it, and she’s been so nice about the whole thing. It’s more of a character now than an impression, so she’s super cool about it, because I’m very loose with my impression of her.
